Description: From 29 March 2018 The Met Office commenced the Next Generation of the National Severe Weather Warning Service with a range of improvements to the service. Two additional warning types were introduced: thunderstorm and lightning. Warnings were extended from five days out to seven days. The language used to communicate severe weather and impacts was improved. The visual design across all Met Office digital channels including Hazard Manager, the MO website and app was improved. There was also a change to the data feed format from XML to GeoJSON.
